Nicely carved statuette of the legendary Dragon-Turtle: symbolizing courage, determination, fertility, longevity, power, success, and support. Often used as a protector statuette for a room or a home. The dragon-turtle faces the main doorway to prevent intruders from entering.
I purchased this little beauty about twelve years ago and it has done its job well for me but I feel that it is ready to find a new home to protect. As the horned, dragon head faces you, teeth barred, there is a bat (symbolizing good luck and prosperity) on its back to the right, and a “fleur-de-lis”-like symbol (can’t find the meaning of it) on it back on the left side. No idea on the age of it but I haven’t seen another one exactly like it on the web yet and I’ve looked many times.
Size is approximately 7″ long x 4.5″ wide x 3.25″ high. It’s about 2.5lbs, so the piece is substantial and is carved from Serpentine Jade, as near as I can tell. Has a lovely antique-stained finish on top of the natural greenish-stone to add definition to the detailed carving. The pictures taken are pretty true to the look and color. I took a lot so you can get the full effect of it as accurately as possible.
